About BookFit
BookFit was founded in 2017 after Hurricane Irma, which tore through Florida, ripping apart homes, schools, businesses, and libraries. We wanted libraries to have books for children as quickly as possible because reading opens doors and enables every child to fulfill his or her potential.
Sloane Rosen
Sloane Rosen is a sophomore at Saint Andrew's School in Boca Raton, FL. She followed in the footsteps of BookFit's founders, her older brothers, Sam and Jesse, who attended Saint Andrew's School (Sam class of 2021 and Jesse class of 2023). Sloane has been involved with BookFit since she was 7 years old. She's attended events, helped with collections, and is now creating events of her own. Sloane is on the Varsity Cheerleading team. In her free time, she likes to go to the beach and hang out with friends.
In the earlier grades, her brothers struggled with reading and fell behind. They learned the value of reading and today they are strong readers. They founded BookFit club to give underprivileged kids books to read so they can become good readers with fit minds.
Reading is fitness for the mind
BookFit is committed to collecting new or gently used children's books and donating them to children through school and community libraries.
Reading library books and having books at home inspires a student's imagination. Reading maximizes the opportunity for all children to read and succeed. A sound mind, body, and spirit require exercise; reading is fitness for the mind.
Where did the name BookFit come from?
BookFit is an annual drive that was founded by student-athletes. Just like kids need to be active and exercise their bodies, books are the weights that kids lift to be good readers. Reading helps students discover new ideas and develop self-esteem.
